Sonja Billerbeck is an Associate Professor in the Department of Molecular Microbiology at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Science and Engineering. She holds an ORCID ID (0000-0002-3092-578X) and is based at Nijenborgh7, Groningen, Netherlands. Her research focuses on microbial systems engineering, synthetic biology applications, and antimicrobial mechanisms in yeast. She serves as Editor-in-Chief of the journal synthetic biology (since 2024) and has organized major events like the Royal Dutch Microbiology Society's Scientific Fall Meeting (2020).
