Sonia Kalsi is an Associate Professor (Teaching) in the Faculty of Laws at University College London (UCL), appointed full-time in 2020. She previously practiced as a barrister in criminal law before transitioning to academia. Her roles include Deputy Director (Teaching & Learning) at UCL’s Centre for Access to Justice (CAJ) and Deputy Director of Undergraduate Programmes in Laws. She contributes to the UCL Academic Board (Teaching Constituency).
Education: LLB from the London School of Economics (1993-1996) and Bar Vocational Course (BVC) from Inns of Court School of Law (1996-1997).
Research interests focus on access to justice, clinical legal education, and criminal law. She designs and teaches modules like 'Access to Justice & Community Engagement' and 'Access to Justice Placement Programme'. Her work emphasizes practical legal training and community engagement.
Awards highlight her contributions to teaching and student experience, including CAJ team recognitions and a personal tutoring nomination. She previously served on the board of trustees for the Legal Action Group.
