Song Ziyou

Dr. Song Ziyou is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS), joining in November 2021. His expertise includes modeling, estimation, optimization, and control of energy storage systems for electrified vehicles and renewable energy applications.

• Education: B.E. (with honours) and Ph.D. (with highest honours) in Automotive Engineering from Tsinghua University, China (2011 and 2016).
• Prior Positions: Research Scientist at Tsinghua University (2016-2017), Postdoctoral Research Fellow (2017-2019) and Assistant Research Scientist/Lecturer (2019-2020) at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and Battery Algorithm Engineer at Apple Inc., US (before NUS).

His research focuses on advanced energy storage technologies, including batteries, supercapacitors, and flywheels, with applications in electrified transportation and renewable energy integration. He has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications, including 40 journal articles, and received multiple paper awards.
