Sondra Cuban, Ph.D., is a Professor and Director of Adult and Higher Education at Western Washington University. Her research focuses on migration, gender, and transnationalism, particularly among marginalized groups. She has conducted Fulbright research on migrant women in Chile and is currently studying Mongolian women's migrations funded by the Jack Street Fund and Henry Luce Foundation. Her work explores urbanization, economic justice, and family networks, with projects examining internal migration in Mongolia and transnational movements to South Korea.
Key achievements include her 2022 book Mapping Southern Routes of Migrant Women: A Case Study of Chile and a documentary on immigrant childcare workers featured in international film festivals. She will be a 2025 fellow at the University of Cambridge’s Mongolia and Inner Asia Studies Unit.
