Sole Anatrone is an Assistant Professor of Italian Studies at Vassar College, specializing in gender, sexuality, race, migration, and activism within Italian cultural studies. She co-founded Asterisk, a taskforce promoting LGBTQAI+ inclusivity in academia, and is affiliated with Vassar’s Women’s Studies Program and the Consortium on Forced Migration. Her research bridges queer theory, postcolonial studies, and media analysis. She holds a PhD in Italian Studies from UC Berkeley and a BA from Smith College.

Research focuses on challenging cultural stereotypes through queer and postcolonial lenses, particularly in Italian media and literature. Recent publications include Queering Italian Media (2020) and the co-authored book Spaghetti Sissies (2023), critiquing queer representation in Italian American media.
