Sohye Kim

Sohye Kim is an Assistant Professor at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School, affiliated with the T.H. Chan School of Medicine and the Eunice Kennedy Shriver Center. She holds academic positions in Psychiatry, Pediatrics, and Obstetrics & Gynecology. Dr. Kim is also an attending clinical psychologist at UMass Memorial Medical Center and contributes to multiple graduate programs at the Morningside Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, including Neuroscience and Translational Science.

Education: She earned a BA in Psychology from Yonsei University, an MA and PhD in Clinical Psychology from Rosemead School of Psychology. Her postdoctoral training included roles at Baylor College of Medicine and the Menninger Clinic.

Research: Focused on early neurodevelopment, Dr. Kim investigates neural markers in infants’ social brains to predict long-term outcomes. Her work integrates genetics, environment, and clinical interventions for high-risk children. Current projects use multimodal neuroimaging to identify early social brain deficits, supported by NIH grants. Key areas include maternal mental health, substance use in parenting, and perinatal mental health disparities.

Clinical Expertise: Specializes in early-life trauma, attachment disturbances, and perinatal mental health. She addresses complex PTSD, mood disorders, and neurodevelopmental conditions through an interdisciplinary lens.
