معرفی
Sofie á Rogvi is a PhD fellow at the University of Copenhagen's Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, Department of Public Health, Section of Health Services Research. Her work focuses on the intersection of medical anthropology, public health, and health services research, with particular emphasis on understanding healthcare experiences among vulnerable populations and societal responses to medical technologies and pandemics.
Her educational background includes a Master's degree in Public Health (Folkesundhedsvidenskab, Kandidatuddannelse), awarded on March 30, 2016. Prior to her current PhD position, she worked as a research assistant at the University of Copenhagen from January 2021 to June 2022.
á Rogvi's research interests span medical anthropology approaches to understanding healthcare systems, with specific focus on socially vulnerable populations. Her work examines how individuals navigate complex healthcare systems, particularly in contexts of chronic illness like diabetes and cystic fibrosis. She also investigates societal responses to emerging medical technologies, including organ transplantation technologies that cross species barriers, and has conducted significant research on public attitudes toward pandemic responses and vaccine hesitancy during the COVID-19 crisis. Her methodological approach primarily employs qualitative anthropological methods including interviews, observations, and document analysis.
Her publication record shows a consistent trajectory examining the human dimensions of healthcare, with recent work focusing on xenotransplantation ethics, diabetes care for vulnerable populations, and societal divisions during the pandemic. Her research demonstrates strong interdisciplinary connections between medical anthropology, public health policy, and clinical practice, with particular attention to how social vulnerability shapes healthcare experiences.
á Rogvi has been active in public discourse, contributing to media discussions about vaccine hesitancy and pandemic responses in Denmark, including commentary on how political rhetoric about unvaccinated citizens might impact long-term public health work.
Her current PhD project, part of the "TechnEmotion" initiative, investigates the entanglement of emotions and future organ transplantation technologies through an anthropological study of research and development related to human-animal technologies. This work combines observations, interviews, and document analysis to explore how future transplant technologies affect human kinship concepts and narratives when crossing species barriers.
