Courtney A. Gidengil

Courtney A. Gidengil is the Director of the Boston Office at the RAND Corporation, a Senior Physician Policy Researcher, and a Professor of Policy Analysis at the RAND School of Public Policy. Her research focuses on improving healthcare safety, quality, and value, with expertise in patient safety, vaccination strategies, infectious diseases (including pandemic response), pediatric medicine, and public health preparedness. She is board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases.

Dr. Gidengil holds an M.D. from McGill University, an M.P.H. in Clinical Effectiveness from the Harvard School of Public Health, and a B.Sc. in Psychology from McGill University. Her career includes training at Hasbro Children’s Hospital, Boston Children’s Hospital, and Harvard Medical School, where she joined faculty in 2009. Her work integrates clinical experience with policy research, addressing challenges in healthcare delivery and public health.

Her research spans vaccine hesitancy, pandemic preparedness (e.g., the COVER-HCW project for healthcare worker well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic), quality improvement in pediatric care transitions, and evidence-based strategies to enhance vaccine acceptance. She has contributed to studies on antibiotic overprescription, health information technology, and healthcare system resilience.
