Sofie Boldsen is a Postdoc at the Center for Phenomenological Psychology and Aesthetics within the Department of Psychology at the University of Copenhagen's Faculty of Social Sciences. She holds office hours on Mondays from 10:00-12:00 and can be reached at sbo@psy.ku.dk.
Dr. Boldsen earned her PhD from Roskilde University, where she conducted qualitative empirical research on the phenomenology of autism and social experiences in autistic youth.
Her research focuses on the intersection of phenomenological psychology, aesthetics, and psychopathology with particular emphasis on:
- Phenomenology of affective atmospheres and aesthetic experiences
- Embodiment, perception, and movement in social interaction
- Intersubjectivity and autistic experiences
- Qualitative methodological approaches in psychology
- Disability studies and neurodiversity perspectives
Dr. Boldsen's recent publications demonstrate a consistent focus on phenomenological approaches to understanding social experience, particularly in relation to autism and affective atmospheres. Her work bridges philosophy, psychology, and aesthetics, employing qualitative methods to explore embodied and intersubjective dimensions of human experience. A notable trend in her research is the application of phenomenological frameworks to understand the sensory and atmospheric aspects of social interaction, with particular attention to neurodiverse experiences.
Dr. Boldsen has been actively involved in academic community building through organizing conferences and workshops, including the ICNAP XIV: Affect in Dialogue conference in 2023 and events featuring scholars like Dr. Hermanni Yli-Tepsa and Dr. Joona Taipale.
She is currently working on a project investigating the complex phenomenology of affective atmospheres through theoretical sources at the intersection of aesthetics, phenomenology, and psychology, which is part of "Aesthetic Experience. An Empirical Investigation in Phenomenological Psychology" led by Associate Professor Tone Roald.
