Sofia Strid is a Professor of Sociology and Associate Professor in Gender Studies at the University of Gothenburg's Department of Sociology and Work Science. She serves as Deputy Head of Department and has held roles as Director of Research Studies and Deputy Dean, overseeing work environment, internationalization, and sustainable development. Her international collaborations include visiting research fellowships at Oxford Brookes University and leadership in EU-funded projects like GenderSAFE (€2.3M), ST4TE (€3.5M), and SUPPORTER (€1.2M).
Her research focuses on feminist theory, gender-based violence, and social/economic/ecological inequalities. She has published over 200 works and led projects addressing violence in academia, green transitions, and gender equality in sports education. Notable networks include the Nordic Association for Feminist and Gender Research, NORA, and the European Consortium for Political Research.
Current grants include GenderSAFE (2024–2027) advancing zero-tolerance approaches to gender-based violence, ST4TE (2024–2027) studying socio-ecological transitions, and SUPPORTER (2023–2026) improving gender equality in sports education. She advises three doctoral students and develops workshops on gender equality for academic institutions.
