Sofia RAMOS

Sofia Ramos is a Professor of Finance at ESSEC Business School, with campuses in Paris and Singapore. She currently serves as Head of the Finance Department (2025-2028) and is actively involved in the Shaping the Future of Finance Chair at ESSEC.

Professor Ramos's research spans several key areas in finance with a particular focus on investment funds, portfolio management, responsible investment, and the intersection of energy and financial markets. Her work often examines ESG factors, sustainability labeling in mutual funds, and the relationship between energy markets and stock markets. Recent publications demonstrate her continued contribution to understanding how environmental, social, and governance factors influence investment decisions and fund performance. She has published extensively in top finance journals including Review of Finance, Journal of Banking and Finance, and Energy Economics.

Professor Ramos has contributed significantly to the field through her book 'The Interrelationship Between Financial and Energy Markets' (2014) published by Springer, which addresses the growing connection between these markets due to increased participation of financial investors. Her editorial work as Associate Editor of the European Journal of Finance further demonstrates her scholarly impact.

As an educator, Professor Ramos teaches Financial Management, Corporate Finance, ESG Investing, Portfolio Management, and International Finance courses in Master's and Executive programs. She has co-directed PhD theses on mutual funds and private equity, demonstrating her commitment to mentoring the next generation of finance scholars. Her research supervision reflects her expertise in mutual fund performance and sustainable investing, areas where she has published extensively.
