Sofia Berthelon serves as an Assistant Professor in Architecture at the School of Architecture and Design, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV), Chile. Born February 16, 1998, she has been active in the academic community since 2017.
Her research interests encompass architectural design, urban infrastructure, heritage rehabilitation projects, and habitability studies with particular focus on coastal edge environments. She has developed specialized workshops examining the relationship between architectural form and function, especially in challenging environments.
Professor Berthelon has led significant projects including the Vogt and Co. Isidora Ayala Building Heritage Rehabilitation Project and multiple cycles of coastal edge architecture studies. Her Crossing projects, such as the Huilloc Crossing (2018) and Blue Crossing - Montegrande (2024), demonstrate her commitment to practical architectural applications in real-world contexts.
She has taught numerous courses including Qualitative and Quantitative Approaches to Research (2021), Habitability and Urban Infrastructure (2020), Architectural Language and Representation (2021), and multiple iterations of the Workshop on Program and Form of the Building through 2024-2025.
