Slobodan Krnjajić is a Senior Research Associate at the Department of Living Systems Sciences, Institute for Multidisciplinary Research, University of Belgrade. His career spans over three decades with previous roles at the Institute for Plant Protection and Environment and Center for Pesticides and Environmental Protection in Serbia.
- Doctor of Biotechnical Sciences in Entomology (University of Novi Sad, 2008)
- Master of Biotechnical Sciences in Entomology (University of Novi Sad, 2003)
- Bachelor of Agricultural Entomology (University of Belgrade, 1985)
Dr. Krnjajić specializes in agricultural entomology and pesticide science, focusing on biological pest control, essential oils as natural insecticides, and phytoplasma disease epidemiology. His work bridges traditional agricultural practices with modern scientific approaches, particularly in combating crop diseases through sustainable methods.
His recent research (2018–2020) investigates essential oil applications against agricultural pests like the Colorado potato beetle and potato tuber moth. Earlier work (2007–2010) analyzed phytoplasma transmission dynamics in maize and grapevine diseases, establishing critical vector-pathogen relationships in Serbian agroecosystems.
- Award for the Best Technological Innovation 2009 (POTENTIAL Category, third place) as part of the BIOCONTROL team
Dr. Krnjajić has led multiple international projects, including EU-funded initiatives on hemipteran pest biodiversity and bilateral programs with France/Hungary. His collaborations span from 2003 to 2020, focusing on phytoplasma epidemiology, vector control, and agricultural sustainability.
