Siân Mooney

Dr. Siân Mooney is Professor and Dean of the top-ranked O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University and Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration. She leads one of the nation's premier institutions for public policy and environmental studies while maintaining an active research agenda focused on critical environmental challenges.

Her academic credentials include:

• Ph.D. in Agricultural and Resource Economics from Oregon State University (1998)
• M.Sc. in Agricultural Economics and Farm Management from the University of Manitoba (1990)
• B.Sc. (Hons.) in Agricultural Economics from the University of Wales (1987)

Dr. Mooney's research spans the critical intersection of environmental science, policy, and economics, with particular expertise in climate change mitigation strategies. Her work focuses on designing effective policies and measurement protocols for greenhouse gas reduction, developing nature-based solutions for climate challenges, protecting endangered species habitats, and analyzing climate impacts on water resources and agricultural decision-making. She has made significant contributions to understanding soil carbon management, water rights systems, and the economic dimensions of environmental conservation through interdisciplinary approaches that bridge natural science, economics, and policy analysis.

Her scholarly contributions have been recognized through her election as a Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration, a prestigious honor acknowledging her impact on public policy and administration.

Dr. Mooney's research has been generously supported by major federal agencies including the United States Department of Agriculture, Environmental Protection Agency, and National Science Foundation.
