Siva Thangam

Siva Thangam is Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Dean of Academic Administration at Stevens Institute of Technology's Charles V. Schaefer, Jr. School of Engineering and Science. His research advances computational and experimental fluid dynamics with applications in aerospace, energy, and biomedical systems.

Research focus areas:

• Turbulence modeling for flows with rotation, curvature, and compressibility
• Aerodynamics of projectiles and spinning bodies
• Biomechanical fluid dynamics (e.g., spinal implant design)
• Advanced measurement techniques for wake and internal flows

Professor Thangam developed anisotropic turbulence models adopted in aerospace simulations and contributed to experimental ballistics research. His publications demonstrate consistent innovation in bridging theoretical models with experimental validation. He directs research on high-speed flow control and stability analysis, with funding from NASA and defense agencies.
