Siv Björklund is a Professor at the Department of Education within the Faculty of Education and Welfare Studies at Åbo Akademi University. Her research focuses on multilingual education, Swedish-medium teacher education, and social inclusion challenges in Finnish educational and service contexts. She has led/co-led 14 projects since 2014, including initiatives on language immersion pedagogy and minority language support, funded by organizations like Riksbankens jubileumsfond and Svenska kulturfonden.
Her key research interests include multilingualism in teacher education, social exclusion faced by Swedish-speaking older adults, and the linguistic landscapes of educational institutions. Notable contributions include studies on grammar instruction in immersion programs and the dynamics of writing support in multilingual classrooms.
Björklund has authored/co-authored over 50 publications, including peer-reviewed articles in journals like International Journal of Bilingual Education and Bilingualism and book chapters in edited volumes.
