Sisira Sarma is a Professor in the Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, The University of Western Ontario. Her research focuses on health economics, particularly the economics of primary health care, economic evaluation of health interventions, analysis of healthcare costs and outcomes, and the economics of social and environmental determinants of health. She supervises graduate students across diverse health economics topics and has led major research projects funded by CIHR.

Research Interests:
• Health Economics: Analyzing payment models for primary care providers and their impact on service delivery.
• Cost-Effectiveness: Evaluating economic value in cancer treatments, diabetes management, and living donor evaluations.
• Health Services Research: Studying utilization patterns, preventive care, and outcomes across different healthcare models.
Scientific Contributions: She has published extensively on topics like financial incentives in primary care, health disparities, and personalized medicine. Her recent work explores team-based care and its influence on preventive cancer screening and hospitalization rates.
Advising & Grants:
• Supervised over 30 graduate students in epidemiology and biostatistics.
• Led CIHR-funded projects on primary care reforms (2021-2025) and Ontario Health Teams (2022-2023).
• Collaborated with institutions like ICES, Canadian Institute for Health Information, and CAMH.
