Sirke Happonen

Sirke Happonen is a University Lecturer at the Department of Educational Sciences within the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Helsinki. She specializes in children's and young adult literature, with a particular focus on Tove Jansson's Moomin works and their illustrations. Her academic journey includes a Doctor of Philosophy in Finnish literature from the University of Helsinki, where her dissertation centered on Tove Jansson's Moomin works and their illustrations, along with a docentship in Finnish Literature and a Master of Education as a classroom teacher.

Dr. Happonen's research spans multiple disciplines including literary research, visual arts and design, theatre and performing arts, and educational sciences. Her most recent publications focus on Tove Jansson's legacy and interactive educational tools related to the Moomin universe.
