Dr. Sion Scott is an Associate Professor of Behavioural Medicine at the University of Leicester, affiliated with the School of Healthcare's Health behaviour change and implementation science research cluster. He holds a MPharm from the University of East Anglia (2015) and a PhD in Behavioural Science (2016), followed by postdoctoral and lecturing roles before joining Leicester in 2021.
His research focuses on applying behavioural science to develop and evaluate health interventions, particularly deprescribing in hospitals and improving medication management for vulnerable populations. Key projects include the NIHR-funded CHARMER study (testing a deprescribing intervention) and the GuiDiR framework for research dissemination. He has contributed to over 50 peer-reviewed articles, emphasizing deprescribing, influenza vaccination strategies, and care home staff health.
Dr. Scott collaborates internationally on deprescribing networks and has led grants totaling millions, including an NIHR Programme Grant. His work bridges clinical practice and policy, addressing polypharmacy reduction and patient-centered care.
