Siobhan Kavanagh

Siobhan Kavanagh is a Lecturer in the Department of Pharmaceutical Science and Biotechnology, Faculty of Science and Health. Her research focuses on interdisciplinary areas including biomedical applications of biomaterials, environmental toxicology, and aquaculture technology. She actively contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals through her work on sustainable solutions in pharmaceutical and environmental sciences.

Her research interests span bioactive compound encapsulation in hydrogels, immunomodulatory effects of natural products, real-time monitoring systems for aquaculture, and the ecotoxicological impacts of nanoparticles. Recent work emphasizes honey-derived bioactives for biomedical applications and advanced hydrogel systems for tissue regeneration.

Dr. Kavanagh has collaborated on studies involving water quality management, microbial dynamics, and nanomaterial environmental interactions. Her publications reflect a strong emphasis on translating laboratory findings into practical solutions for environmental and biomedical challenges.
