Nasim Golafshan

Nasim Golafshan is a Research Fellow at the Department of Health Technology, Technical University of Denmark (DTU), focusing on biomedical engineering and biomaterials development. Her research addresses tissue regeneration, particularly through bacterial-derived hydrogels for volumetric muscle loss recovery.

Research Interests:

• Biomaterials and hydrogel development
• Muscle regeneration and extracellular matrix mimicry
• Polysaccharide-based systems for drug delivery
• Toxicology and cell differentiation assays

Recent Research (2024): Published in Bioactive Materials, her work explores super-durable hydrogels for repairing volumetric muscle defects in rats, emphasizing cell growth stimulation and biomechanical stability.

Supervision: Actively mentors PhD student G. Skovborg within the Nature-Inspired and Biocompatible Materials for Energy Harvesting in the Gut project (2025–2027).
