Siobhan Armstrong is a Historical Harp professor at the Royal College of Music, specializing in historical performance on medieval to baroque harps, including the arpa doppia, arpa de dos órdenes, and cláirseach. She collaborates globally with ensembles like Les Arts Florissants and The Academy of Ancient Music, and her work spans Renaissance/baroque chamber music, opera, Hollywood soundtracks, and traditional Celtic festivals.
- Education: B.A. Mod. in Music from Trinity College Dublin (1987).
- Leadership: Founded The Historical Harp Society of Ireland (2003) and led the first 3D-laser scan of a historic Irish harp (2016).
Her research, culminating in a PhD from Middlesex University (2022), focuses on historical performance-practice evidence from 18th-century field transcriptions of harp repertory.
Recent Appointments: Occasional Lecturer at University College Dublin (2021), then appointed to Royal College of Music (2024).
