Sini Vihma serves as a University Teacher at Aalto University's School of Arts, Design and Architecture. A practicing visual artist since 2005, she specializes in painting and teaches color theory, perception, and contemporary art practices, bridging academic instruction with active exhibition work.
Her research explores painting as a synthesis of intuitive, emotional, and rational cognitive processes with core interests including:
- Pigment chemistry and material interactions
- Chromatic perception psychology
- Embodied cognition in artistic creation
- Eco-critical approaches to studio practice
- Decolonizing art pedagogy frameworks
- Somatic dimensions of visual expression
Publication analysis (2009-2022) reveals evolving focus from perceptual studies ("Taju kankaalla", 2011) to educational frameworks ("Visual artist’s workbook", 2022) and environmental metaphors ("37º celsiusta"). Her work consistently examines painting's role in mediating sensory experience and cognitive processing through material experimentation.
No scientific awards, grant funding records, or student supervision details were documented in available sources. Current teaching assignments include "Dream" and "Art and Sustainability" projects.
