Sina Schorn

Sina Schorn is a researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology in Bremen, Germany. She completed her doctoral thesis in 2021 under the supervision of Dr. Jana Milucka and Prof. Marcel Kuypers, focusing on microbial methane metabolism in anoxic environments. Her work investigates the role of seagrass meadows in the marine carbon cycle, particularly their dual function as CO₂ sinks and methane emitters. Schorn's research highlights unexpected microbial mechanisms underlying methane production in both living and dead seagrass sediments, emphasizing the need to understand ecosystem resilience under global change.
