Dr. Simone Marschner is a Senior Research Fellow and Head Biostatistician at the Westmead Applied Research Centre (WARC) within the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney. With over 20 years of research experience across government, industry, and academic sectors, she specializes in the statistical leadership of epidemiological studies and clinical trials.
Her educational background includes a PhD in female-specific risk factors for the prevention of women's cardiovascular disease with a focus on gestational diabetes, and a Masters in Statistics. Previous positions include clinical trials biostatistician at Harvard University working on AIDS research, the NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre at the University of Sydney, and as the founding biostatistician of the Australian clinical trials center established at Eli Lilly.
Dr. Marschner's research interests center on women's cardiovascular health, particularly how pregnancy complications like gestational diabetes and hypertensive disorders affect long-term cardiovascular outcomes. Her work employs advanced biostatistical methods to analyze large-scale epidemiological data and clinical trials. She has published over 51 papers in the last decade, with recent focus on women's pregnancy-related cardiometabolic conditions, cardiovascular risk assessment, and sex disparities in cardiovascular disease.
