Simone Ciampi is a Professor at Curtin University's School of Molecular and Life Sciences (MLS), Department of Chemistry. He holds an ARC Future Fellowship and has been active since 2016, following roles at the University of Wollongong (2013-2016) and the University of New South Wales (2010-2013). His research focuses on surface chemistry, electrostatic catalysis, and semiconductor electrochemistry, with over 110 publications in these areas.
Education: BSc (Biotech.) and MSc (Industrial Biotech.) from UNSW, followed by a PhD in Chemistry (2010) under Professors Justin Gooding and Mike James. His work bridges electrochemistry, nanotechnology, and materials science, emphasizing energy harvesting (e.g., triboelectric nanogenerators) and catalytic systems.
Research interests include static electricity-driven reactions, nanomaterials, and device fabrication. Recent publications highlight advancements in silicon-based nanogenerators, electrostatic catalysis, and bubble-mediated electrochemical processes. Awards include the ARC Future Fellowship, recognizing his contributions to energy and materials science.
Publications (2025-2022) reflect cutting-edge work in nanotechnology, electrochemistry, and surface engineering, often collaborating with institutions like UNSW and ANSTO. Ongoing projects explore triboelectric systems, electrode fouling, and light-activated electrochemistry.
