Simone Bonavita is an AC Professor of Data Protection & Data Governance at the University of Milan and Executive Director of the ISLC – Information Society Law Center. He holds a Ph.D. in New Technologies Law and Legal Informatics from the University of Bologna, under Prof. G. Sartor. His academic career includes a Visiting Fellowship at the European University Institute (EUI) in 2017. Bonavita specializes in legal aspects of new technologies, focusing on data governance, cybersecurity, and digital investigations. He teaches master’s courses on Data Protection, Computer Forensics, and Legal Tech at the University of Milan. His research explores GDPR compliance, digital rights in smart cities, and ethical challenges in hyperconnected societies. He actively contributes to the Jean Monnet European project on European citizens’ digital rights and cybersecurity. Bonavita advises national and international organizations on data governance strategies and frequently speaks at conferences on law and technology intersections.
