Simona Maria Brambati is a Full Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Montreal's Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and holds the Courtois III Chair in Fundamental Neuroscience. She obtained her doctorate in Molecular Medicine from Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele, followed by postdoctoral training at the University of California San Francisco and the University of Montreal. She directs the LINGUA laboratory, focusing on language neuroscience in clinical and healthy populations. Her research emphasizes neuroplasticity in post-stroke aphasia recovery, cognitive decline biomarkers, and sex differences in brain connectivity.
Education: Doctorate in Molecular Medicine (Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele), Postdoctoral studies at UCSF and UMontreal.
Research Interests: Language neurobiology, aging, neuroimaging, semantic dementia, Alzheimer's disease, and cognitive rehabilitation. She uses MRI and AI techniques to study brain networks. Her work bridges clinical applications and fundamental neuroscience, with a focus on discourse analysis for early dementia detection.
Notable Grants/Projects: Union Neurosciences et Intelligence Artificielle Québec (UNIQUE), biological sex impact on aphasia recovery, and language network analysis in Canadian French. She leads over 20 funded projects, including NIH and Canadian Institutes grants.
