Simona Cipriani

Simona Cipriani serves as a Lecturer of Dance at State University of New York at Purchase within the Conservatory of Dance. She has held teaching positions across multiple units since 2006, including the Physical Education Department and School of Liberal Studies & Continuing Education.

Research and Professional Interests

Cipriani's work centers on Dance and Movement Therapies, particularly the Authentic Pilates Method where she directs the Art of Control®. Her expertise spans Body Conditioning, Feldenkrais Method applications, and Sports Rehabilitation, informed by her background as a licensed massage therapist and Olympic-level practitioner.

Professional Distinctions

A professional dancer for over 25 years with international performance experience, she was selected as an official massage therapist for the 2004 Athens Summer Olympics and 2006 Torino Winter Olympics. Her scholarly contributions include co-authoring peer-reviewed articles on Pilates in the Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies.

Instructional Leadership

Cipriani directs the Purchase College Pilates Mat Teachers Certification Program and USPA Teachers Certification Program, offering specialized training through both institutional and private studio settings.
