معرفی
Simon Wilkins is an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at Monash University, Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences. He is actively engaged in cancer research, particularly focusing on colorectal and prostate cancers, the tumor microenvironment, and the role of nutrition and inflammation in patient outcomes.
His research interests lie at the intersection of molecular oncology and clinical medicine, with a strong emphasis on understanding immune modulation in cancer, prognostic factors in colorectal cancer, and the impact of nutritional interventions. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to good health and well-being.
The recent articles highlight a consistent trend in clinical and translational research, particularly in colorectal cancer outcomes, surgical recovery, nutritional support in oncology, and immune regulation in the tumor microenvironment. His publications span high-impact journals such as Scientific Reports, Nutrition and Cancer, and Frontiers in Nutrition, reflecting a multidisciplinary approach combining biochemistry, immunology, and clinical data analysis.
- COX2-driven T cell suppression in the colorectal cancer microenvironment (2024–2028)
- Regulation of the immune response in the colorectal cancer tumour microenvironment (2022)
- Genetic study of babies born with severe bladder defects (Jack Brockhoff Foundation, 2010–2011)
- Elemental bio-imaging as a prognosis marker for prostate cancer (Marian and EH Flack Trust, 2010–2011)
Dr. Wilkins has led multiple research projects as a Primary Chief Investigator and collaborates extensively with clinical and research teams at Monash. While no formal advisees are listed, his role as a chief investigator implies leadership in mentoring junior researchers and managing interdisciplinary teams. His work is disseminated through numerous publications, with over 50 research outputs, and has been featured in news outlets and academic platforms.
