Simon White

Simon White is a Research Fellow at Griffith University's Department of Applied Mathematics, Statistics and Physics within the Griffith Sciences school. He is currently affiliated with the Queensland Quantum and Advanced Technologies Research Institute (QUATRI) and previously held positions at the Centre for Quantum Dynamics (2023-2024) and the ARC Centre of Excellence for Quantum Computation and Communication Technology (CQC2T).

He earned his PhD from the University of Technology Sydney (2019-2023), focusing on experimental quantum systems. His research spans:

• Quantum emitter physics in 2D materials

White's work centers on experimental quantum optics using light to explore quantum phenomena, with particular emphasis on hexagonal boron nitride quantum emitters and integrated photonic platforms. His research bridges fundamental quantum mechanics and applied quantum technologies, focusing on quantum communication protocols, quantum computing components, and quantum sensing applications. He employs techniques including resonant spectroscopy, electrical control of quantum systems, and nanofabrication of photonic structures.

His publication record shows a clear trajectory toward scalable quantum technologies, with recent work emphasizing photonic quantum information processing and solid-state quantum emitters. The research demonstrates strong interdisciplinary connections between quantum physics, materials science, and optical engineering.

White serves as Associate Supervisor for doctoral research on quantum nonlocality applications in quantum information technology. His collaborative work spans international institutions through the ARC Centre of Excellence CQC2T framework.
