Dr. Simon Templar is a Visiting Professor at the Cranfield School of Management, affiliated with the Centre for Logistics, Procurement and Supply Chain Management. He holds a PhD (Cranfield, 2013), MSc in Logistics (Cranfield, 2001), and BSc in Transport and Economics (Plymouth Polytechnic, UK). With over 20 years of industrial experience in finance, sales, and logistics, he specializes in supply chain finance, costing, and transfer pricing. His research explores financial implications of supply chain decisions and tax-efficient strategies. He lectures globally, including at Breda University, Heriot-Watt, and UPC Barcelona, and co-authored influential books like Supply Chain Management Accounting and Financing the End-to-End Supply Chain.
Research Interests: Simon’s work focuses on supply chain finance, including transfer pricing, cost-to-serve analysis, and rail freight logistics. He has pioneered methodologies to assess supply chain costs in industries like food and drink, contributing to the EPSRC-funded project on supply chain cost modeling. His research emphasizes linking supply chain strategies to financial outcomes, such as profitability and working capital optimization.

Earlier contributions include foundational studies on inter-organizational costing and rail freight inhibitors.
