Simon Sihang Luo is a Nanyang Assistant Professor in the Public Policy and Global Affairs Programme at Nanyang Technological University's School of Social Sciences, specializing in political theory and intellectual history with a focus on modern and contemporary contexts.

Dr. Luo's research examines political memory, emotion, democratic theory, and social movements through interdisciplinary lenses, particularly analyzing Cultural Revolution legacies in post-Mao China and global electoral moments like the 1980 initiative. His work bridges Chinese, Asian, and Third World political contexts with theoretical frameworks.
As Lead Principal Investigator for the "1980, The Global Electoral Moment: China and Beyond" project, he directs interdisciplinary research on electoral founding experiences.
