Simon S Rabinowitz

Dr. Simon S. Rabinowitz is a Clinical Professor and Vice Chairman of Pediatrics at Downstate Health Sciences University. Since 1987, he has pioneered the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition, serving Brooklyn’s inner-city pediatric population and establishing one of the first ACGME-accredited fellowship programs in Pediatric Gastroenterology. He specializes in second opinions for children with gastrointestinal, liver, or pancreatic symptoms and growth faltering, with a clinical practice at University Hospital at Downstate.

His research spans the entire spectrum of Pediatric Gastroenterology, focusing on eosinophilic esophagitis, necrotizing enterocolitis in NICU infants, gastrointestinal manifestations of AIDS, otolaryngologic complications of reflux, viral hepatitis in renal disease, genetic liver disease, nutritional challenges in developmentally disabled children, and Hirschsprung disease. He has contributed educational articles to Medscape on pediatric feeding issues and endoscopic diagnostics.
