Simon Morris is a Lecturer in Accounting at the Faculty of Arts and Society, Department of Business at Charles Darwin University. With a 40-year career spanning the UK, Ireland, Zambia, Botswana, Vanuatu, and Australia, he has lectured on accountancy and business subjects to diverse groups, including professional accountants, undergraduates, civil servants, and military personnel. He played a key role in establishing accountancy schools in Africa and the Pacific, authored foundational texts like *Botswana Taxation* and *Vanuatu Company Law*, and holds professional qualifications such as Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia New Zealand (CA ANZ) and Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management. His research focuses on accounting education, economic analysis (including statistical methods like least squares), and the development of professional accountancy frameworks in fragile states.
Research Interests: Accounting systems, taxation law, international business regulation, and the application of statistical models (e.g., neural networks, stock market analysis) to economic challenges. His work emphasizes capacity-building in developing regions.
Professional Memberships and Roles: Committee Member of CA ANZ in the Northern Territory.
Academic Work: Authored a 2022 PhD thesis on 'The critical factors in the establishment of a sustainable accountancy profession in fragile states: Timor-Leste' under CDU's supervision.
