Peter Morris

Peter Morris serves as a Senior Principal Research Fellow at Menzies School of Health Research within the Child and Maternal Health division, where he is actively registered to supervise postgraduate research. His work significantly contributes to Indigenous child health through clinical research focused on respiratory and ear diseases, with substantial impact on rheumatic heart disease diagnostics and management.

His primary research domains include Otitis Media (71% fingerprint), Bronchiectasis (60%), Rheumatic Heart Disease, and Indigenous Health interventions. He has pioneered clinical trials for chronic suppurative otitis media treatments and developed evidence-based protocols for hearing loss prevention in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, addressing critical health disparities in remote communities.

Recent publications (2025) demonstrate a concentrated shift toward rheumatic heart disease research, particularly in echocardiographic diagnostics using World Heart Federation guidelines and understanding acute rheumatic fever progression.
