Simon McMullan is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences at Macquarie University, Sydney. He holds a PhD in Physiology (2002, University of Bristol) and a BSc (Hons) in Physiology (1998, University of Manchester). His research focuses on autonomic nervous system circuits regulating blood pressure and respiration, with implications for conditions like sleep apnea, hypertension, and affective disorders. He leads projects on neural control of airway protection, optogenetic therapies for sleep disorders, and cardiovascular connectivity.
