Simon Mawhinney is a Professor of Composition at Queen’s University Belfast. His work spans contemporary influences including complexist music, post-spectralist harmonies, and cross-cultural cantillation techniques, with collaborations involving high-profile musicians across Germany, France, Iceland, and the UK.
His recent improvised composition Transitional Objects will be performed at King’s College in conjunction with this workshop. His practice ranges from quietude to frenetic exhilaration, reflecting diverse global inspirations.
