Dr. Francesco Bianchini is a Research Fellow at King's College, University of Cambridge, specializing in the histories and cultures of the Silk Roads. He studies protection rituals, wellbeing practices, and communal care systems across mediaeval Asia (400-1400CE), with current work on premodern hospices. Fluent in Sanskrit and Classical Chinese, he has taught at Oxford, Heidelberg, and Mahidol University.
His research examines:
- Protective magic and healing rituals in Buddhist/Hindu traditions
- Transregional religious exchanges across Monsoon Asia
- Comparative hospice systems and communal care ethics
- Digital approaches to Sanskrit epigraphy
