Simon K. Warfield is the Thorne Griscom Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School and Director of Radiology Research at Boston Children's Hospital. He leads the Computational Radiology Laboratory (CRL), dedicated to advancing medical image analysis through computational methods. His expertise includes quantitative image analysis, segmentation, and real-time data processing using high-performance computing. Dr. Warfield earned his PhD in Computer Science from the University of New South Wales and completed post-doctoral training at Harvard Medical School/Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Research focuses on applications such as fetal brain development, multiple sclerosis pathology, and image-guided surgery. The CRL develops novel algorithms to enhance diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities in radiology. His work bridges computational innovation with clinical translation, exemplified by tools like FetDTIAlign and advancements in 7T pediatric MRI protocols.
