Simon French is a Professor of Musculoskeletal Disorders at Macquarie University's Department of Chiropractic, serving as its Director of Research. He holds a PhD in Health Services Research from Monash University and an MPH from the same institution. His career includes a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Melbourne and a position at Queen’s University in Canada (2013–2018), where he held the Canadian Chiropractic Research Foundation Professorship. He currently serves as Co-Editor-in-Chief of the journal Chiropractic & Manual Therapies.

Research focuses on knowledge translation in primary care, particularly low back pain and osteoarthritis management. He designs randomized controlled trials (RCTs), systematic reviews, and implementation interventions to improve evidence-based practices. Key themes include reducing unnecessary imaging, promoting patient education, and enhancing interprofessional care coordination.
Notable projects include the WalkBack trial to prevent low back pain recurrence, feasibility studies on spinal pain in adolescents, and evaluations of imaging use in chiropractic care. His work emphasizes reducing low-value care and fostering clinician adherence to evidence-based guidelines.
Awards and recognitions include a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Primary Care Research Fellowship. He actively collaborates globally, with studies spanning Australia, Canada, Denmark, and beyond.
