Simon Dermarkar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting at HEC Montréal. He holds a PhD from Université Laval and advanced degrees in accounting and law from HEC Montréal and Université de Montréal. His expertise spans auditing, financial accounting, and business strategy, with a focus on auditing services commercialization and regulatory change in the accounting profession.

- Technology adoption in accounting practices
- Regulatory dynamics affecting auditors
- Innovation in professional accounting services
Awards: Recipient of the 2020 Best Article Award in Comptabilité-Contrôle-Audit and 2025 Fellow of the Ordre des CPA du Québec. Supervised 11 MSc projects exploring topics like AI in auditing education, digital transformation in Big 4 firms, and regulatory adaptation in small accounting firms.
Teaching: Courses include 'Audit and Certification Missions' and 'Audit and Big Data' (2023-2025).
