Simon Corrie is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Monash University. His research focuses on developing nanoparticles and biomaterials for biosensing, medical devices, and diagnostic tools. He leads the Nanosensor Engineering Lab, collaborating internationally to translate materials into clinical diagnostic products. He is affiliated with the Monash Centre to Impact Antimicrobial Resistance and the Victorian Heart Institute. Corrie holds roles as Unit Coordinator and Lecturer for Heat and Mass Transfer and Mass and Energy Balances. He has contributed to projects on enzyme engineering for biosensors, anti-fibrotic drug screening, and cell/tissue engineering technologies.
Education: PhD in Physical Chemistry (University of Queensland), postdoctoral studies at the University of Washington. Key collaborations include the ARC Centre of Excellence in Convergent BioNano Science and Technology.
Research interests emphasize interdisciplinary approaches combining materials science, chemistry, and molecular biology to design nanoparticle-based biosensors. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and innovation.
