Simon Christie

Dr Simon Christie is a Research Fellow at Manchester Metropolitan University specializing in aviation emissions and sustainable fuels. He coordinates major EU-funded projects such as TULIPS (EU Green Deal), AVIATOR (H2020), and NewJet (EPSRC), focusing on reducing aviation's environmental impact. His work spans alternative fuel development, particulate matter characterization, and air quality monitoring.

Education: PhD (UMIST), MSc Instrumentation & Analytical Science (UMIST), BSc Physics & Chemistry (University of Manchester). He has served as PI for projects like JETSCREEN and ITAKA, contributing to biofuel value chain development and emission measurement standards.

Research interests include aviation emissions' climate impact, alternative fuel lifecycle analysis, and public health implications of aircraft pollutants. He reviews for journals like Environmental Science & Technology and Atmospheric Environment, and chairs committees such as ASTM D02 (Fuels & Lubricants) and ECATS International Association.
