Simon Charles Baker is a Research Fellow and KRUK Intermediate Fellow at the Jack Birch Unit, University of York. His research focuses on BK polyomavirus (BKPyV), bladder cancer mechanisms, and regenerative therapies for urological conditions. He leads projects funded by the Royal Society and BBSRC, and contributes to MRC-funded regenerative medicine initiatives. Key achievements include developing clinical guidelines for BKPyV management post-kidney transplantation and elucidating viral-driven oncogenesis.
