معرفی
Dr. Simon Cassidy is a Lecturer and manages the Inorganic Materials Characterisation (IMC) Facility at the University of Oxford's Department of Chemistry. His research focuses on applying diffraction and magnetometry techniques to structural problems in layered materials and collaborations across disciplines. He coordinates access to Diamond Light Source beamlines (I11 and I15-1) via Block Allocation Groups, facilitating advanced materials characterisation for Oxford, Warwick, and Nottingham researchers.
Education:
- MChem from St Catherine’s College, University of Oxford
- Joint DPhil between University of Oxford and Diamond Light Source (supervised by Prof. Simon Clarke and Dr. Silvia Ramos)
His expertise includes synthesis/characterisation of superconducting materials, low/high-temperature synthesis, and advanced diffraction/magnetometry analysis. He has been a college lecturer since 2012, tutoring inorganic chemistry across all undergraduate years. Since 2019, he oversees IMC instrumentation and supports Part II student projects involving structural modeling of complex materials.
