Simon Baskouda is a postdoctoral researcher funded by the Swiss Confederation Excellence Scholarship (FCS/ESKAS) at the University of Geneva and an assistant professor at the École Normale Supérieure – ENS within the University of Maroua, Cameroon. His work bridges Geography, History, and Anthropology to explore socio-political dynamics in Northern Cameroon.
Research Focus: Baskouda’s interdisciplinary research investigates the interplay between spatial politics, cultural hegemony, and resistance in the Mandara Mountains. By analyzing toponymy, identity formation, and consumption patterns, he examines how marginalized communities contest Fulani Islamist dominance, integrating African Studies and postcolonial theory into his narrative.
