Silvia Tellenbach

Dr. Silvia Tellenbach is a Senior Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law, leading the research section for Turkey, Iran, and Arab States since 1984. She holds law degrees and specialized doctoral research on Iran's constitution, complemented by extensive linguistic training in Arabic, Persian, and Turkish.

Her research examines contemporary applications of Islamic criminal law, Turkish judicial processes, and constitutional frameworks across Near Eastern jurisdictions. She maintains particular focus on legal developments in Iran and comparative criminal justice systems.

Honors include an honorary doctorate from Bahçeşehir University (Istanbul, 2017) recognizing her contributions to Islamic legal scholarship.
