Professor Silvia Sabatini holds a position at the Mathematical Institute of the University of Cologne, where she has been since October 2014. As of April 2024, she serves as Chair of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. Her research focuses on topological invariants of almost complex and symplectic manifolds with symmetries, including equivariant cohomology, K-theory, and Chern classes. Recent work extends to reflexive polytopes, elliptic genera, and semi-toric systems. She actively organizes the 'ColMar Interactions' seminar with teams from Cologne and Marburg, exploring symplectic geometry and its intersections with combinatorics and number theory. Sabatini’s academic journey includes a Ph.D. from MIT (2009, under Victor Guillemin), a postdoc at Instituto Superior Técnico (2013–2014), and an assistant professorship at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (2009–2013).
Her professional activities span teaching advanced courses like 'Analysis II' and leading research seminars on geometric analysis. The 'ColMar' seminar series, co-organized with Oliver Goertsches and Panagiotis Konstantis, highlights her role in fostering interdisciplinary collaboration in equivariant topology and symplectic geometry.
