Silvia Pilonato

Silvia Pilonato is an Associate Professor of Business Economics (ECON-06/A, previously SECS-P/07) at the Department of Management, University of Bergamo, where she has served since March 2021. She holds significant administrative responsibilities as Deputy Director of the Department of Management, Member of the Research Quality Committee, and Member of the PhD Board in Economics and Management. Her academic credentials include a PhD in Economics and Management from the University of Padua.

Dr. Pilonato's research spans multiple critical areas in accounting and business economics, with particular focus on Corporate Social Responsibility reporting, control systems in public administrations, cost accounting in service companies, criminal firms, and corruption analysis. Her work bridges theoretical frameworks with practical applications across public sector, non-profit, and corporate contexts. She has published extensively in high-impact journals, with recent work examining pandemic-related accounting challenges, public sector accountability, and corruption networks.

Her research output demonstrates consistent evolution from early work on local government strategic processes (2005) to contemporary analyses of pandemic-era accounting challenges (2025).
